There is so much to say in praise of St. Paul’s but it can all be encapsulated in the fact it is England’s favourite Cathedral. What a tremendous support to the campaign in that it will be ringing out with great gusto on April 23rd helping us all celebrate St. George.

The 2015 Campaign is starting ……….
Many Tower Captains have been informing us that whilst their towers are under repair, or their bells being restored, they are unable to ring this year. HOWEVER, they have all declared an interest for next year and want to enlist.
Chichester Cathedral will ring
The South Downs recently declared a National Park will have its own Cathedral ringing out for England’s patron saint. Chichester Cathedral with its magnificent spire rising up and seen from miles around will ring its 8 bells whose sounds will float across not only land but out to sea reminding sailors of how special a day it is.

Churches dedicated to St. George
All the churches across the country have been contacted and the tower captains are signing up. Even though there are some churches that sadly have no bells they will nevertheless be celebrating in one form or another. And then there are those with only one bell, but even they will be ringing not wanting to be left out.
Shakespeare country
The date of April 23rd is shared with our greatest playwright’s birth and so it is apt that the county of Warwickshire is encouraging its towers to join in and ring out for both Shakespeare and St. George.
Winchester Cathedral will be ringing
This much loved cathedral now part of a hugely successful heritage site will be celebrating the nation’s day, April 23rd by ringing out from its magnificent 14 bells reminding its citizens that it was once the ancient capital of England.
The county of Oxfordshire is ….
encouraging its towers to take part. It has always been a great supporter of the campaign and the list of bands who have pledged to take part is growing.
2014 – This year has produced a dilemma for some
We have taken note that due to the movable feast of Easter the church ecclesiastica has declared that April 28th will be celebrated as St. George’s Day and, as a result, there will be some churches and cathedrals who will celebrate on that day instead. However, April 23rd is still April 23rd, and whilst the dilemma is to be respected there are many who will continue to ring on April 23rd whilst acknowledging the church’s ruling and celebrate St. George on 28th. Whichever day that is chosen we will still wish all a happy and joyous day.
And now we have joining in … Worcester Cathedral
The city of Worcester and its surroundings have been hit cruelly with the devastation of flooding but there stands its cathedral firm and sound. Its 12 bells will be ringing out reminding the country of its Patron Saint and joining in the campaign to celebrate England’s Day.
