The small village of COWDEN is in Sevenoaks district and near the East Sussex border. It is full of lovely old timber framed buildings and right in the heart of the village stands the Church. It is dedicated to St.Mary Magdalene and has 6 bells that ring out each year to celebrate ST.GEORGE’s Day. This happy photo was sent in by Caroline Levy-Cooper

A Typical Happy Band that Rang for St.George’s Day – BRIDGWATER
There are many church towers all over the country that ring out every year to celebrate ST.GEORGE’s Day where the ringers really get into the spirit of the occasion. They wear the English colours and even bake cakes in the red and white. Here is just such a happy and dedicated band from Bridgwater joining in having rung the 8 bells of St. Mary’s church and looking forward to a deserved reward. Joining them were friends from Spaxton who rang the 6 bells at St. Margarets. Well done everyone. The photo was sent in by the Tower Captain Margaret Lee.
The 2018 Campaign has started to ring out for ST.GEORGE
The campaign to get as many ringers as possible across the country to ring out to celebrate England’s Day – St. George’s Day on Monday April 23rd has already begun. The news this year is being brought to you via the Twitter feed which is revealed on the Home Page. Come and join in and encourage the young to ‘have a go’ or have an ‘open tower day’ to encourage the public to stop and see you all in action and be involved. Good Luck and have a Great Day on ST.GEORGE’s DAY.
