The general term The Clergy is given to those that are in some way connected to the running of the church both temporal and ecclesiastical.
ABBOTT
A community of monks in an Abbey under the rule of an Abbot or a Prior.
BISHOP
There are three orders of Ministry in the church – Bishops, Priests, and Deacons. The Bishop is the most senior. A Bishop presides over a Diocese.
CANON
They assist the Deans in the running of the Cathedral Chapter such as a Canon Precentor
DEAN
Is a priest who is responsible for all the activities of a cathedral.
PRIOR
Is a monk who deputises for an Abbot
PRIORY
Is an monastic house that is run by a Prior rather than an Abbot
PROVOST
Is a high ranking cathedral official
RECTOR
Is a member of the Clergy who is in charge of a Parish
VERGER
Is a lay member who carries the mace or verge at the head of a procession. Their duties also include the day to day functioning of the church
