Late news of towers still wanting to join in all over the country. Some are really getting into the mood to ring out wearing red and white for the flag and one such band will be ringing out at St. Mary’s in Bridgewater. Many will be rewarding themselves after their hard work with a sample of Real English Ale. Have a great day.
Cheltenham joins with gusto

Cathedrals of Yorkshire join in
More church towers are joining in including the Cathedral of Ripon with its tremendous13 bells and Bradford Cathedral with its wonderful ring of 12 bells so Yorkshire will be a good place to be as they celebrate St. George.
Worcestershire is ringing
Whole areas of the county especially in the north will be joining in the campaign and ringing their hearts out on Monday 23rd for St. George.
It might be that Rutland is ……
the smallest county in the country but it won’t stop it from ringing out for St. George. Most of the towers in the county will endeavour to ring out on April 23rd with a tremendous show of support.
Message from Boris Johnson, London’s Mayor
“I am delighted by the idea of 44,000 bell ringers ringing 28,000 bells in churches across England on St. George’s Day. It is indeed a day that should be celebrated and the age old tradition of bell ringing is a wonderful way to do this.
2012 will be an exciting year for campanologists, with the prominent roles bell ringing will play not only in the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations but also the Olympic and Paralympic Games. I wish all those involved the best of luck.
I hope your campaign continues to go from strength to strength and I look forward to hearing the bells of London ringing out on 23rd April”
Newcastle, Newcastle, Newcastle
Its a question of who will not be ringing as there will be hardly a tower that will be silent on April 23rd. From Newcastle Cathedral of St. James with 12 bells, and Hexham Abbey of St. Andrew with 10 bells, they will be ringing out right across the county of Northumberland right up to the beautiful windswept shores of Bamburgh. What a great shout for St. George.

The Bishop of London
The Rt.Revd. and Rt.Hon. Richard Chartres, Bishop of London has been a keen follower of the Campaign. At the recent baptism of new bells for St. Dunstan-in-the-West he says: “The peculiar English glory of change ringing belongs to the 17th Century. It would be a tragedy if this unique part of English culture were ever to become extinct” They are rung for good and to mark the Christian faith.
