EXETER Cathedral – The 2nd Heaviest Ring in the World – Will ring for St. George!

This tremendous international claim made with immense pride by Canon Precentor Carl Turner who, together with the Dean, has encouraged its wonderful ringers to ring out for St. George.  These bells numbering 12 in total have its ‘Grandisson’ tenor weighing in at 72cwt.  This Cathedral is a wonderous sight to see and for those interested in architecture  it also claims to have the longest uninterrupted vaulted ceiling in England.

THANK YOU THANK YOU BELLRINGERS EVERYWHERE THANK YOU

Reports have been coming in throughout the day of your achievements and they are a joy to read making the only conclusion that the Campaign for 2012 was a success.  You all gave your time, your energy, your skill, your laughter and your enthusiasm to make it so.  You have gained new listeners who are proud of what you did and why you rang, and they will surely spread the word for next year with great delight.  So we say again, THANK YOU BELLRINGERS EVERYWHERE.

5 Million Listeners hear Lily Ring for St. George!

Last night’s episode of The Archers had Lily ringing her heart out and what a sound it made.  They rang and rang and rang as a backdrop to the scene of the churchyard bathed in spring sunshine, as they sat and chatted surrounded  by fresh grass sprinkled with wild flowers and the sound of nesting birds.  A perfect English scene.

Getting into the Spirit and Flying the Flag

We celebrate not only the name of England’s Patron Saint but also his flag and the St. George cross has been flying from many church towers.  Just such a church is St. Andrews in Butterwick, Nr. Boston in Lincolnshire.  Here the band were getting into the spirit of the day and proud to show the flag after they had rung a quarter peal of Plain Bob Doubles.
